José Guadalupe Torres Campos was born in León on January 19, 1960. He studied philosophy and theology at the Seminary of León. He obtained a Licentiate in Church History from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. He was ordained a priest on July 2, 1984. He held the following pastoral roles: Prefect at the Minor Seminary of León, Private Secretary to the Bishop, Notary of the Ecclesiastical Tribunal, Parochial Vicar, Chancellor of the Diocesan Curia, Parish Priest, Episcopal Vicar, and Vicar General of the Diocese of Irapuato, in which he was incardinated in 2004. On December 10, 2005, he was elected Titular Bishop of Quiza and Auxiliary Bishop of Ciudad Juárez, receiving episcopal ordination on February 22, 2006. Upon returning to the diocese in 1988, he served in various parishes and in the diocesan Curia, and in 1998 he was appointed Episcopal Vicar for the pastoral zone of Irapuato. With the canonical erection of the Diocese of Irapuato in 2004, he was incardinated into the new ecclesiastical circumscription and has served as its Vicar General since February 9, 2004.
