Archbishop Robert Gerald Casey

Archbishop-elect Robert G. Casey was born on 23 September 1967 in Chicago. He entered Niles College Seminary at Loyola University, and was awarded a bachelor’s degree in English literature. He carried out his ecclesiastical studies at the University of Saint Mary of the Lake Seminary in Mundelein, Illinois. He was ordained a priest for the metropolitan archdiocese of Chicago on 21 May 1994. He has held the following offices: parish vicar of Saint Ita in Chicago (1994-1999), associate director and then director of the Casa Jesus, a preparatory programme for candidates to the priesthood from Mexico and Central America, in Chicago (1998-2003), parish priest of Our Lady of Tepeyac (2003-2009), Saint Barbara (2009-2016) and of Saint Bede the Venerable (2015-2018) in Chicago. He was appointed titular bishop of Thuburbo maius and auxiliary of Chicago on 3 July 2018, and received episcopal consecration the following 17 September.
