Bishop of Erfurt
Ulrich Neymeyr was born on August 12, 1957, in Worms-Herrnsheim, in the Diocese of Mainz. After completing his secondary education, he pursued theological studies at the Faculties of Theology of the Universities of Mainz and Münster. He was ordained a priest on June 12, 1982, and incardinated into the Diocese of Mainz. Following his ordination, he served as an assistant pastor in Mainz-Lerchenberg and Mainz-Drais. From 1984 to 1987, he continued his theological studies at the University of Mainz, earning a doctorate. Subsequently, he was appointed Vice-Rector and Bursar of the Major Seminary of Mainz, before serving as parish priest in Rüsselsheim-Heßloch from 1993 to 2000. He then served for three years as parish priest in Worms-Horchheim, Offstein, and Worms-Wiesoppenheim. On February 20, 2003, he was appointed to the titular see of Maraguia and as Auxiliary Bishop of the Diocese of Mainz, receiving episcopal consecration on April 21 of that year.
