Bishop of Puerto Escondido
Florencio Armando Colín Cruz was born in Acambay, in the Diocese of Toluca, on October 27, 1950. He completed his priestly formation at the Conciliar Seminary of Mexico City. He obtained a Licentiate in Sacred Scripture from the Pontifical Biblical Institute and a Doctorate in Biblical Theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University. He was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Mexico on April 22, 1982. As a priest, he has served in the following roles: parochial vicar, director of the seminary's propaedeutic course, vice-rector of the Major Seminary, professor of Sacred Scripture at the seminary and at the Higher Institute of Ecclesiastical Studies, director of the archdiocesan Biblical Commission, dean of the First Episcopal Vicariate, and consultant to the Episcopal Commission for Biblical Pastoral Care. Since 1996, he has been the pastor of the "Capucinas" parish, and since 1999, he has also served as a canon of the Basilica of Guadalupe.
