Archbishop of Vrhbosna
Bishop Tomo Vukšić was born in Studenci, in the diocese of Mostar-Duvno, on 9 January 1954. After completing his philosophical-theological studies in the Sarajevo seminary, he served in the Yugoslav army. He was ordained a priest for the diocese of Mostar-Duvno on 29 June 1980. After ordination he served as parish vicar in the Cathedral of Mostar for two years. He was subsequently sent to study in Rome, where he obtained a doctorate in ecumenical theology from the Pontifical Oriental Institute, and a licentiate in canon law at the Pontifical Urban University. Upon returning to his diocese he was appointed as director of the Theological Institute of Mostar, as well as vice rector of the Faculty of Theology of Sarajevo, where he also taught. In 2009 he was appointed as vicar general of the diocese of Mostar-Duvno. He was a member of the Joint Commission for the implementation of the Basic Agreement between the Holy See and Bosnia and Herzegovina. On 1 February 2011 Pope Benedict XVI appointed him military ordinary for Bosnia and Herzegovina. General Audience Audiences From the Oriental Churches.
