Bishop of Acerra
Antonio Di Donna was born in Ercolano (Naples) on September 1, 1952. He pursued his studies at the Seminary of Naples, leading to his ordination to the priesthood. He obtained a Licentiate in Pastoral Theology from the Pontifical Theological Faculty of Southern Italy and a Doctorate in Theology from the Pontifical Salesian University. He was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Naples on April 14, 1976. He held the following offices and ministries: Assistant to the Parish Priest of the Most Holy Rosary (SS. Rosario) in Ercolano (1976–1978); Lecturer in Pastoral Theology at the Saint Thomas Section of the Theological Faculty of Southern Italy and lecturer at the Institutes of Religious Sciences in Naples, Avellino, Capua, and Alife-Caiazzo (1978–2007); Head of formation at the Major Seminary and person in charge of the ongoing formation of young priests and the diocesan presbyterate (1983–2007); Parish Priest of Santa Maria della Natività and San Ciro in Portici (1993–2007); and Episcopal Vicar for Diocesan Pastoral Care (1998–2007). He also served as Director of the Diocesan Catechetical Office and Dean of the Ercolano Vicariate. Elected to the titular see of Castello di Numidia and appointed Auxiliary Bishop of Naples on October 4, 2007, he received episcopal ordination on November 11 of that same year.
