Bishop of Juticalpa
José Bonello, O.F.M., is Bishop of Juticalpa, Honduras. He was born on 4 April 1961 in Xaghra, Diocese of Gozo, Malta. After attending primary schools in his native town and secondary schools at the lyceum of Rabat, he continued philosophical and theological studies at the National Institute of Religious Ecclesiastical Studies of Malta (INSERM). He made solemn profession on 28 August 1983 and received priestly ordination on 7 July 1985 for the Franciscan province of the Friars Minor of Malta. From 1985 to 1990 he was master of postulants and promoter of vocations of his Franciscan province; from 1990 to 1995 he was assistant parish priest of Santa Ana in La Libertad, Diocese of Comayagua, Honduras, and from 1992 parish priest of the same parish. From 2009 he was vicar general of the Diocese of Comayagua, Honduras.
