Bishop of Laoag
Renato P. Mayugba was born in Sampaloc, in the Archdiocese of Manila, on December 4, 1955. He pursued his studies in philosophy and theology at the Immaculate Conception Seminary in Vigan, Ilocos Sur. He was ordained a priest on April 25, 1981, for the Archdiocese of Lingayen-Dagupan. Following his ordination, he served for two years as a parochial vicar at the Saints Peter and Paul Parish in Calasiao, Pangasinan; subsequently, from 1982 to 1985, he was Rector of the Orientation Seminary in Bonuan, Dagupan. From 1985 to 1988, he continued his studies in Rome at the Angelicum, where he obtained a Licentiate in Theology. Upon returning to his home country, he served as Rector of the Immaculate Conception School of Theology in Vigan and as Director of the Spiritual Formation Year at the same institution. From 2003 to 2005, he was Rector of the Mary Help of Christians College Seminary in Bonuan, Dagupan. He was elected to the titular see of Centuriones and appointed Auxiliary Bishop of Lingayen-Dagupan on October 18, 2005, receiving episcopal consecration on December 27 of that same year.
