Bishop of Jundiaí
Arnaldo Carvalheiro Neto is Bishop of Jundiaí, São Paulo, Brazil. A native of São Paulo, Dom Arnaldo was born on 11 April 1967. He studied philosophy at the Salesian Faculty of Philosophy, Sciences, and Letters at UNISAL in Lorena (SP), and theology at the Rainha dos Apóstolos Theological Institute in Marília (SP). He attended courses in spiritual direction at the Institute for Spiritual Leadership in Chicago, United States, and hospital chaplaincy at Mater Misericordiae Hospital in Dublin, Ireland. In addition, he obtained a licentiate in Pastoral Counseling at Loyola University of Chicago. Dom Arnaldo received priestly ordination on 17 May 1997 and was incardinated in the Diocese of Araçatuba (SP). In his priestly ministry he served as pastor of São Brás Parish in Birigui (SP), parish vicar of Saint Roman Parish in Chicago, spiritual director of the Rainha dos Apóstolos Theological Institute in Marília (SP), pastor of São Pedro Apóstolo Parish in Gabriel Monteiro (SP), and rector of the propaedeutic seminary of Araçatuba (SP). He was appointed bishop on 4 May 2016 and ordained on 17 July of the same year. On 25 July 2016 he was appointed coadjutor bishop of Itapeva (SP). On 19 October of the same year, he was appointed as the sixth bishop of that particular Church, which was created on 2 March 1968 by Pope Paul VI.
