Bishop of Khunti
Binay Kandulna was born on January 3, 1964, in Gondra—then part of the Archdiocese of Ranchi, and now within the Diocese of Khunti. He entered St. Albert’s Major Seminary in Ranchi for his studies in philosophy and theology. He was ordained on April 23, 1994, and is incardinated in the Diocese of Khunti. Following his ordination, he held the following positions: 1994–1997: Assistant Parish Priest at Holy Rosary Church, Mahugaon, and Principal and teacher at the parish middle school; 1997–2001: Studies for a degree in Canon Law at the Urbaniana University, residing at the Pontifical College of St. Paul the Apostle; 2002–2004: Assistant Parish Priest at St. Michael’s Cathedral, Khunti, Judge at the Regional Ecclesiastical Tribunal, Secretary of the parish middle school, and Director of the student residence; concurrently, he served as the Bishop’s personal secretary. Since 2004, he has been a staff member at the Apostolic Nunciature in New Delhi.
