Archbishop Gilberto Pastana de Oliveira

Gilberto Pastana de Oliveira was born on July 29, 1956, in Boim, in the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Santarém, in the State of Pará. He completed his studies in philosophy and theology at the *Instituto de Pastoral Regional* (IPAR) in Belém, Pará (1978–1983). He obtained a Licentiate in Spiritual Theology from the Pontifical Theological Faculty *Teresianum* in Rome (1990–1992). He was ordained a priest on July 27, 1985, and incardinated into the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Santarém, where he held the following positions: Parochial Vicar of Santo Antônio de Pádua in Mojuí dos Campos (Pará); Rector of the São Pio X Minor Seminary; Diocesan Pastoral Coordinator; Pastor of Nossa Senhora Aparecida and Nossa Senhora de Fátima in Santarém (Pará); and Vicar General. Additionally, he served as Vice-Rector of the São Gaspar Interdiocesan Major Seminary in Belém (Pará), Parochial Vicar of Nossa Senhora da Conceição in Belém (Pará), and Advisor for the Laity for the *Regionale Norte 2* of the CNBB (National Conference of Bishops of Brazil). On August 3, 2005, he was appointed Bishop of Imperatriz and received episcopal ordination on the following October 28. On May 18, 2016, he was appointed Coadjutor Bishop of Crato, becoming the Ordinary on the following December 28.
