Bishop Juan María Huerta Muro

Juan María Huerta Muro, O.F.M., was born in Guadalajara on April 9, 1962. He attended primary school in Guadalajara and, in 1981, was admitted to the novitiate of the Franciscan Friars Minor in Guadalajara. He studied philosophy at the Franciscan seminary in Zapopan and theology at the Franciscan Theological Institute in San Pedro Garza García (Nuevo Laredo). He obtained a Licentiate degree in Civil Law from the University of Tijuana. On April 10, 1988, he made his solemn profession in the Order of Friars Minor, and on July 1, 1989, he was ordained a priest. He has held the following positions: Master of Juniors and Postulants in Tijuana and Vicente Guerrero, Parish Administrator, and Dean of the Presbyteral Council of the Archdiocese of Tijuana. In 2006, he was appointed Provincial Minister of the "Blessed Fr. Junípero Serra" Province. He currently also serves as Episcopal Vicar for Consecrated Life for the Archdiocese of Tijuana.
