Archbishop of Ciudad Bolívar
Ulises Antonio Gutiérrez Reyes, O. de M., was born in Pedregón, in the Archdiocese of Coro, on April 29, 1951. He pursued his philosophical studies at the Monastery of Santa María de El Puig in Valencia, Spain, and his theological studies at the Santa Rosa de Lima Seminary in Caracas. He was ordained a priest in Coro on December 27, 1977. Subsequently, he held the following positions: parish priest in Maracaibo, administrator of the Tirso de Molina College in Caracas, person in charge of the Mercedarian Seminary in Caracas, Provincial of his Order from 1994 to 2000, and founding rector of the Mercedarian Seminary in Palmira, in the Diocese of San Cristóbal.
