Bishop of Jujuy
Bishop César Daniel Fernández, Bishop of Jujuy, was born on October 20, 1954, in Buenos Aires, in the Archdiocese of Buenos Aires. After obtaining a commercial diploma he entered the major seminary. Besides a licentiate in theology from the Catholic University of Argentina, he obtained a diploma in spiritual theology in Madrid. He was ordained a priest for Buenos Aires on November 14, 1980. After ordination he served as parochial vicar and then parish priest in several parishes, and in 1999 was appointed rector of the major seminary of Buenos Aires. On September 20, 2007, he was appointed Titular Bishop of Caltadria and Auxiliary Bishop of Paraná. He received episcopal ordination on November 30, 2007, with Mario Luis Bautista Maulión as principal consecrator and Eduardo Vicente Mirás and Mario Aurelio Poli as co-consecrators. On August 25, 2011, he was appointed Apostolic Administrator of Jujuy, the see becoming vacant on September 18, 2011, with the death of Bishop Marcelino Palentini. On June 7, 2012, he was appointed Bishop of Jujuy, and he was installed on August 6, 2012. He has served as a member of the Episcopal Commission for Ministries and of the Organisation of Seminaries of Argentina.
