Bishop Paul Simick was born on 7 August 1963 in Gitdubling in the diocese of Darjeeling, and was awarded a doctorate in biblical theology from the Pontifical Urbaniana University in Rome. He was ordained a priest on 9 April 1992 for the diocese of Darjeeling. He has held the following offices: hostel prefect of the Namchi Public School in Sikkim (1992-1993), parish priest of Saint Maurice in Suruk (1993-1995), teacher of sacred scripture at Morning Star College (2000-2006), parish priest of Christ the King in Pakyong (2006-2007), dean of the East Sikkim Deanery and bursar of Saint Xavier’s School in Pakyong (2007-2011), and parish priest of the Immaculate Conception Cathedral in Darjeeling (2011-2014). He was appointed titular bishop of Maturba and vicar apostolic of Nepal on 25 April 2014, and received episcopal consecration on 29 June 2014.
