Archbishop Luiz Fernando Lisboa

Luiz Fernando Lisboa, C.P., was born on December 23, 1955, in Marques de Valença (State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil). After completing his primary education, he entered the St. Gabriel Seminary of the Passionist Missionaries in Osasco, São Paulo (Brazil), on August 4, 1975; on January 24, 1976, he was admitted to the novitiate in the city of São Carlos, São Paulo. He made his first profession on January 23, 1977, and his perpetual profession on December 18, 1982. From 1977 to 1980, he pursued philosophy studies in Curitiba, Paraná, obtaining a Licentiate degree from the Pontifical Catholic University of Paraná. He subsequently earned a Licentiate in Sacred Liturgy from the Faculty of Nossa Senhora da Assunção (Archdiocese of São Paulo). After completing his theological studies at the Theological Institute of São Paulo in 1982—earning a Bachelor's degree—he was ordained a priest on December 10, 1983. Following his ordination, he held the following positions in Brazil: Director of Seminarians and Parochial Vicar (1984–1987); Superior, Bursar, and Assistant Novice Master (1987–1989); Director of Theology Students and Advisor for Formation (1989–1992); Vicar, Parish Priest, Provincial Advisor, Provincial Councilor, and Superior (1992–1999); and Superior and Formator (1999–2001). Sent as a missionary to Mozambique, he served as Parish Priest and Superior in the Diocese of Pemba (2001–2007), and as Superior, Formator, Parochial Vicar, and Assistant for the Theology Course for the laity in the city of Pemba (2007–2010). Upon returning to Brazil, and after a year of rest at the Provincial House (2010–2011), he has served since 2011 as Parish Priest of the Santa Teresinha de Lisieux parish in the city of Colombo, Paraná (Archdiocese of Curitiba).
