Bishop Armando António Ortíz Aguirre

Bishop Armando António Ortíz Aguirre, Bishop of Ciudad Lázaro Cárdenas, was born on February 17, 1952, in Guanajuato, in the Archdiocese of León. He was ordained a priest for León on June 17, 1977, and obtained a licentiate in philosophy from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. He held various diocesan offices as formator, prefect of discipline, spiritual director and head of the propaedeutic course of the minor seminary; vice-rector and professor of the major seminary of the Archdiocese of León; chaplain of the Sanatorio Moderno Pablo de Anda; spiritual director of the faculty of theology of the seminary of León; and parish priest. From 2004 he served as parish priest of San Maximiliano Kolbe and general coordinator of the diocesan presbyteral commission, also taking an interest in the ongoing formation of the clergy of the Archdiocese of León. On November 20, 2013, he was appointed Bishop of Ciudad Lázaro Cárdenas. He received episcopal ordination on February 5, 2014, with José Guadalupe Martín Rábago as principal consecrator and Christophe Louis Yves Georges Pierre and Alberto Suárez Inda as co-consecrators.
