Bishop Jonny Eduardo Reyes Sequera

Bishop Jonny Eduardo Reyes Sequera, S.D.B., Vicar Apostolic of Puerto Ayacucho, was born on October 5, 1952, in Caracas, in the Archdiocese of Caracas. After primary and secondary school in his own country, he obtained a bachelor's degree in theology from the Pontifical Salesian University in Rome and a licentiate in moral theology from the Alphonsian Academy, also in Rome. He made his first profession on August 31, 1969, and his perpetual profession on June 6, 1976. He was ordained a priest on December 8, 1979. He then served as vocations promoter (1979-1982); a student in Rome (1982-1984); local vicar of the San Luca Seminary in Caracas (1984-1985); local superior of the same seminary (1985-1994); provincial councillor (1986-1992); local superior and provincial councillor at the Don Bosco College in Valencia (1994-1999); provincial vicar (1999-2002); provincial superior (2002-2008); local superior at the Don Bosco College (2008-2013); and from 2013 master of novices. On October 14, 2015, he was appointed Titular Bishop of Canapium and Vicar Apostolic of Puerto Ayacucho. He received episcopal ordination on January 10, 2016, with José Ángel Divassón Cilveti as principal consecrator and Luigi Antonio Secco and Raúl Biord Castillo as co-consecrators.
