Bishop of São João del Rei
Bishop José Eudes Campos do Nascimento, Bishop of São João del Rei, was born on 30 April 1966 in Barbacena, in the Archdiocese of Mariana, State of Minas Gerais. After preparatory studies in his city of origin, he completed philosophy studies at the Salesian Fathers' Institute of Philosophy in São João del Rei in 1988 and at the Santo Tomás de Aquino Institute of Philosophy in Belo Horizonte in 1989-1990. He studied theology at the São José Major Seminary of the Archdiocese of Mariana in 1991-1994. He received priestly ordination on 22 April 1995 and was incardinated in the presbyterate of the Archdiocese of Mariana, in which he held the offices of parish vicar, parish administrator, archdiocesan adviser for youth ministry, pastor, spiritual director of the major seminary, member of the presbyteral council and college of consultors, and representative of the presbyters of the archdiocese to regional and national ecclesial bodies. At the source time he served as episcopal vicar of the northern region of the Archdiocese of Mariana and as pastor of the Santa Efigênia parish in the historic city of Ouro Preto.
