Payment failed — what next?
If a payment fails, Stripe will retry the charge a few times before your subscription becomes past due. Here's what to do.
Update your payment method
- Click your name in the sidebar and choose Manage Plan.
- Click Manage Subscription to open the Stripe billing portal.
- Add a working payment method.
- Stripe will re-attempt the charge shortly, or you can trigger the retry by paying the outstanding invoice in the portal.

Common causes
- Card expired — update the expiration date or add a new card.
- Billing address mismatch — make sure the address on file matches your card issuer's records.
- Issuer declined — call your bank or issuer, especially if it's a new subscription or an unusual amount.
- Regional payment method unavailable — try a credit or debit card if an alternative method isn't accepted.
What happens if it keeps failing
- Stripe retries the payment over several days.
- You'll get email reminders to update your details.
- If payment isn't recovered, your subscription is cancelled and your account moves to the Free plan. Your data (chats, library, memories) stays intact.
After recovery
Once payment succeeds, your Pro features come back immediately — no need to re-subscribe. If you were moved to Free already, just upgrade again from the Plan page.
