Bishop Gianni Sacchi

The Pope has appointed Msgr. Gianni Sacchi—a priest of the Diocese of Biella who has served as Vicar General and Pastor of the S. Maria Assunta parish in Vigliano Biellese—as Bishop of the Diocese of Casale Monferrato (Italy). Msgr. Sacchi was born on September 15, 1960, in Trivero, in the diocese and province of Biella. After obtaining a teaching diploma, he undertook his theological training at the Diocesan Seminary of Biella and subsequently completed it by pursuing a Baccalaureate degree at the Theological Faculty of Turin. He was ordained a priest on April 28, 1990, and incardinated into the Diocese of Biella. He served as parochial vicar of the San Paolo parish in Biella in 1999; since 1999, he has been the pastor of the S. Maria Assunta parish in Vigliano Biellese; he served as Pro-Vicar General from 2002 to 2008; and he has served as Vicar General since 2008. He is a member of the College of Consultors, the Presbyteral Council, and the Diocesan Council for Economic Affairs; a member of the Diocesan Pastoral Council; President of the “Don A. Ferraris” Foundation; Head of the Service for the Ongoing Formation of the Clergy; Head of the Office for Church Cultural Heritage and the Service for Religious Buildings; and a Canon of the Cathedral. Since August 7, 2003, he has held the title of Chaplain of His Holiness.
