Archbishop of La Paz
Percy Lorenzo Galván Flores was born in Tomás Frías (Potosí) on August 10, 1965. He attended primary school at the "Adolfo Siles" school (1972–1976) and secondary school at the "Jaime Zudáñez" school (1977–1983) in Sucre. As a seminarian, he completed the propaedeutic course in Sucre (1984) and the philosophy and theology courses at the "San José" Seminary in Cochabamba (1985–1991). Ordained a priest at the Cathedral of Sucre on July 18, 1991, he assumed the following roles: - Parochial Vicar at San Miguel Arcángel parish in Villa Serrano (1991–1992). - Parochial Vicar at San Juan Bautista parish in Padilla (1992–1993). Parish priest of the parishes of Padilla, Alcalá, and El Villar (1993–1995). - From 1996 to 1998, he served as Episcopal Vicar for the Frontier Pastoral Zone. - From 1998 to 2001, he pursued studies in Rome, obtaining a Licentiate in Biblical Theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University. - Upon returning to Sucre in 2001, he was appointed Rector of the San Cristóbal Seminary, a position he held until December 31, 2005. - He also taught biblical languages and introductory courses on Sacred Scripture at the "San Cristóbal" Seminary, as well as courses for pre-novices from various religious institutes. - On September 8, 2005, he succeeded Msgr. Ricardo Ernesto Centellas Guzmán (who had been appointed Auxiliary Bishop of Potosí a few months earlier) as Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Sucre. - On September 8, 2008, he was appointed Archdiocesan Pastoral Vicar, charged with coordinating and fostering the 6th Synod of the Archdiocese of Sucre. He also assumed responsibility as Delegate for the Archdiocese's schools. - He served as parish priest of "San José" parish in Sucre. Pope Benedict XVI appointed him Bishop-Prelate of Corocoro, and he received episcopal ordination on May 1, 2013. On May 23, 2020, Pope Francis appointed him Archbishop of La Paz, a role he currently holds.
