Bishop of Zárate-Campana
Laxague was born on September 14, 1952, in the province of Buenos Aires, into a family of French origin with 19 siblings (one of whom is H.E. Msgr. Esteban María Laxague, Bishop of Viedma). After completing his secondary education, he earned an engineering degree from the State University. He pursued studies in sacred sciences at the Angelicum in Rome, obtaining a Baccalaureate in Philosophy and Theology and a Licentiate in Canon Law. Ordained a priest on July 15, 1989, he subsequently held various positions within the Archdiocese of Bahía Blanca’s Curia as well as in pastoral service. He was appointed Chancellor in 1991 and Vicar General of the Archdiocese in 2004. On November 14, 2006, he was appointed Titular Bishop of Castra Severiana and Auxiliary Bishop of Bahía Blanca. Within the Argentine Episcopal Conference, he serves as President of the Episcopal Commission for the Laity and the Family. He participated in the recent XIV Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops on "The Vocation and Mission of the Family in the Church and in the Contemporary World."
