Bishop William Terrence McGrattan

William Terrence McGrattan was born in London, Ontario, on September 19, 1956. Before entering the seminary, he earned a degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Western Ontario and worked as an engineer for several years. He subsequently completed his ecclesiastical studies at St. Peter’s Seminary in London, obtaining a Master of Divinity degree. He was ordained a priest for the Diocese of London on May 2, 1987. In 1992, he obtained a Licentiate in Theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. Following his ordination, he held the following positions: parochial vicar at St. Michael’s Parish in Leamington (1987); parochial vicar at St. Joseph’s Parish in Chatham (1987–1990); and Director of the Vocations Office (1994–1995). In 1992, he began teaching theology at St. Peter’s Seminary in London, serving as its Rector from 1997 to 2009. On November 6, 2009, he was appointed Auxiliary Bishop of Toronto, where he exercised his episcopal ministry in the archdiocese's central pastoral region. At the national episcopal conference level, he serves as the representative to the Catholic Health Alliance of Canada and the Catholic Women’s League (CWL), and is a member of the Commission for Doctrine.
