Bishop Dominique Blanchet was born on 15 February 1966 in Cholet, department of Maine-et-Loire, in the diocese of Angers. He carried out his higher studies at the École Centrale de Paris, obtaining a diploma in mathematics and the title of engineer. He entered the seminary of Angers, and after experience with the Oblates of Mary Immaculate, he continued his studies at the Prado Seminary, where he obtained a diploma in theology. He received priestly ordination on 27 June 1999 for the diocese of Angers. He is a member of the Prado Institute. He has held the following offices: cooperator of the parish of Doué-la-Fontaine (1999-2005) and of Martigné-Briand (2000-2006), episcopal delegate for youth pastoral care (2004-2010), in solidum priest of Chemillé, Saint-Lézin and Gardes (since 2005), vicar general of Angers (since 2006), diocesan administrator of Angers (since 2008), and moderator of the episcopal Curia of Angers (since 2009). In 2011 he was appointed administrator of the parish of Chalonnes-sur-Loire and parish priest of Saint-Lazare-Saint-Nicolas in Angers (2013-2015). On 21 May 2015 he was appointed bishop of Belfort-Montbéliard, receiving episcopal consecration the following 12 July. On 9 January 2021 he was appointed bishop of the diocese of Créteil.
