Archbishop Giacomo Morandi

Archbishop Giacomo Morandi was born on 24 August 1965 in Modena, in the metropolitan archdiocese of the same name. He was awarded a licentiate in biblical sciences from the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome (1989- 1992) and a licentiate and doctorate in theology of evangelization from the Pontifical Gregorian University (2008). On 11 April 1990 he was ordained a priest and incardinated in the metropolitan archdiocese of Modena Nonantola, where he held the following offices: director of the diocesan Office of Biblical Service (1994-2013); episcopal vicar for Catechesis, Evangelisation and Culture (2005-2010); archpriest of the Cathedral Chapter (2011-2015); vicar general (2010-2015); diocesan administrator (2015). Furthermore, he has served as lecturer in Sacred Scripture at the Interdiocesan Theological Studium of Reggio Emilia-Guastalla, Modena-Nonantola, Carpi, Parma (1993-2015) and at the Higher Institute of Religious Sciences in Modena-Nonantola (1993-2015). On 27 October 2015 he was appointed as under-secretary of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. On 18 July 2017 he was appointed as titular archbishop of Cerveteri and secretary of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, receiving episcopal ordination on 30 September 2017. He is a consultor of the Congregation for Bishops and of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity.
