Archbishop of Guwahati
John Moolachira was born on December 14, 1951, in the village of Puthusserykadavu, in the Diocese of Mananthavady, Kerala. After attending St. Thomas Minor Seminary in Chennai, he studied philosophy at Christ the King College in Shillong and subsequently theology at the Papal Seminary in Pune. He was ordained a priest on October 23, 1978, and incardinated into the Diocese of Tezpur. Following his ordination, he held the following positions: 1978–1983: Vice-Rector, Muktidata Minor Seminary, Tezpur; 1983–1986: Rector, Muktidata Minor Seminary, Tezpur; 1986–1996: Principal, Don Bosco School, Tezpur; 1996–2005: Parish Priest of Udalguri. From 2005: in Rome, pursuing a doctorate in Ecumenism at the Pontifical University of Saint Thomas Aquinas. He also served as a member of various diocesan commissions.
