Bishop of Malolos
Bishop Dennis Cabanada Villarojo, Bishop of Malolos, was born on April 18, 1967, in Cebu City, in the Archdiocese of Cebu. He completed his secondary studies at the Colegio de San José-Recoletos in Cebu City, his philosophy at San Carlos Seminary College in Cebu City, and his theology at the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, where he also obtained a licentiate in philosophy. From 1998 to 2001 he studied in Rome at the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross, obtaining a doctorate in philosophy. He was ordained a priest for Cebu on June 10, 1994, in Cebu City. For four years, from 1994 to 1998, he was personal secretary to the Archbishop of Cebu. After his studies in Rome he continued in that secretarial role until 2010, while also serving as coordinator of the archdiocesan pastoral planning board. From 2010 he was moderator of the pastoral staff team of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart parish, Capitol, in Cebu City, and in 2015 he was appointed secretary general of the fifty-first International Eucharistic Congress, held at Cebu in January 2016. On July 3, 2015, he was appointed Titular Bishop of Gisipa and Auxiliary Bishop of Cebu. He received episcopal ordination on August 10, 2015, at Cebu City, with Jose Serofia Palma as principal consecrator and Ricardo Jamin Vidal and Giuseppe Pinto as co-consecrators. On May 14, 2019, he was appointed Bishop of Malolos, and he was installed on August 21, 2019.
