Archbishop Laurent Birfuoré Dabiré

Archbishop-elect Laurent Birfuoré Dabiré was born on 17 September 1965 in Dissin, diocese of Diébougou. He was ordained a priest on 29 December 1995 and incardinated in the diocese of Diébougou. After ordination, he first held the role of professor at the Saint Tarcisius Minor Seminary of Diébougou (1996- 1998). He was awarded a doctorate in Utoque Iure in Rome (1998-2005), and went on to serve as judicial vicar and chancellor (since 2005), official of the Ecclesiastical Tribunal of the province of Bobo Dioulasso (since 2006), professor at the Saint Jean Baptiste Major Seminary (2007-2008), professor of law at the Unité Universitaire in Bamako, Mali (since 2011). On 31 January 2013 he was appointed bishop of the diocese of Dori, receiving episcopal consecration the following 4 May. Since 2019, he has held the office of president of the Episcopal Conference of Burkina Faso and Niger.
