Bishop Jaime Muñoz Pedroza

Monsignor Jaime Muñoz Pedroza was born in Ciénega, in the Archdiocese of Tunja, on September 30, 1958. After completing his primary education in his hometown and secondary education at the José Ignacio Márquez School in Ramiriquí, he entered the Major Seminary of Tunja in 1978, where he pursued philosophical and theological studies. He was ordained a priest on November 24, 1984, and incardinated into the Archdiocese of Tunja. Subsequently, he specialized in Moral Theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University (1986–1988) and in Sex Education at the Juan de Castellanos University Institution. He obtained a Doctorate in Theology from the Javeriana University in Bogotá in 2002. — Parochial Vicar at the Toca Parish (1985–1986) — Resident Professor at the Major Seminary of Tunja (1989–2003) — Archdiocesan Delegate for Vocational Ministry (1990–1999) — Professor of Ethics at the Juan de Castellanos University Foundation (1995–1998) — Rector of the Major Seminary of Tunja (2003–2010). On October 22, 2010, His Holiness Benedict XVI appointed him Bishop of the Diocese of Arauca. On December 4 of that same year, he received episcopal ordination from the Apostolic Nuncio to Colombia, Msgr. Aldo Cavalli. He took canonical possession of the assigned see on December 14, 2010. On July 11, 2018, Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of the Diocese of Girardot. He took canonical possession of this episcopal see on August 30 of that same year. From July 18, 2020, to February 6, 2021, he also served as Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of El Espinal.
