Bishop Romuald Kamiński

Bishop Romuald Kamiński, Bishop of Warszawa-Praga, was born on February 7, 1955, in Janówka, then in the Diocese of Łomża and now in the Diocese of Ełk. Having passed his secondary school examinations, he was admitted to the major seminary of Warsaw, and he was ordained a priest for Warszawa on July 7, 1981. He then served as parochial vicar of the parish of the Blessed Virgin Mary Queen of Poland in Warsaw (1981-1983); private secretary to the Archbishop of Warsaw, administrator of the archbishop's residence and referendary of the Secretariat of the Primate of Poland (1983-1992); and chancellor of the newly erected Diocese of Warszawa-Praga, a member of the presbyteral council and of the college of consultors (1992-2005). He was incardinated in Warszawa-Praga on March 25, 1992. On June 8, 2005, he was appointed Titular Bishop of Aguntum and Auxiliary Bishop of Ełk. He received episcopal ordination on June 23, 2005, at Ełk, with Józef Kowalczyk as principal consecrator and Kazimierz Romaniuk and Jerzy Mazur as co-consecrators. On September 14, 2017, he was appointed Coadjutor Bishop of Warszawa-Praga, and he succeeded to the see as Bishop of Warszawa-Praga on December 8, 2017. He was installed on January 20, 2018. Within the Polish Episcopal Conference he has served as a member of the commission for institutes of consecrated life, a member of the council for religious dialogue and of the council for the family, and president of the group for relations with the Lithuanian Episcopal Conference. His episcopal motto is "Sub Tuum praesidium".
