Bishop of Pelplin
Ryszard Kasyna was born on September 28, 1957, in Nowy Staw, then part of the Diocese of Gdańsk. He entered the Major Seminary of Gdańsk in 1976 and was ordained a priest on January 24, 1982. From 1982 to 1985, he served as a parochial vicar at the "Basilica of St. Mary" in Gdańsk. Between 1985 and 1992, he studied in Rome at the Pontifical Lateran University, where he obtained a doctorate in *Utroque Iure* (both Canon and Civil Law). In 1992, he completed the course of study at the Roman Rota, qualifying as an Advocate of the Roman Rota. Since 1993, he has been a lecturer in Canon Law at the Major Seminary of Gdańsk. From 1993 to 2004, he served as Judicial Vicar of the same archdiocese. On January 24, 2005, he was appointed Titular Bishop of Dices and Auxiliary Bishop of Gdańsk, and was consecrated on April 2 of that year. Within the Polish Episcopal Conference, he is a member of the Commission for the Clergy and the Legal Commission, and serves as the Delegate for the pastoral care of seafarers. He is a member of the Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signatura.
