Bishop of Novara
Franco Giulio Brambilla is Bishop of Novara, Italy. Franco Giulio Brambilla was born in Missaglia, Archdiocese of Milan and province of Lecco, on 30 June 1949. After completing the whole formation path in the Ambrosian seminaries, he received priestly ordination on 7 June 1975 in Milan Cathedral. Sent to the Pontifical Lombard Seminary in Rome, he completed further studies at the Pontifical Gregorian University, obtaining first a licentiate in 1977 and then a degree in theology in 1985. He is the author of numerous publications and various articles of a theological, pastoral, and spiritual character. From 1978 to 1985 he taught Sacred Scripture, spiritual theology, and theological anthropology in the seminary of Seveso and, from 1984, taught Christology and theological anthropology in the Theological Faculty of Northern Italy and in the parallel section of Venegono Inferiore, Varese. From 1993 to 2003 he was director of the parallel section of the Theological Faculty of Northern Italy at Venegono Inferiore. From 2006 he held the office of dean of the Theological Faculty of Northern Italy. He was also spiritual assistant of some care homes of La Nostra Famiglia of the Little Apostles of Charity of Blessed Luigi Monza. Elected to the titular Church of Tullia and appointed auxiliary of Milan on 13 July 2007, he received episcopal consecration on 23 September following.
