Archbishop Carlos Manuel Escribano Subías

Carlos Manuel Escribano Subías was born on August 15, 1964, in Carballo (La Coruña). He entered the Major Seminary of Lérida and obtained a Licentiate in Moral Theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University (1994–1996). He was ordained a priest on July 14, 1996, and incardinated into the Diocese of Zaragoza. After serving in various pastoral roles—notably as parish priest of "El Sagrado Corazón" and "Santa Engracia" in the city of Zaragoza, and as a professor at the Regional Center for Theological Studies of Aragon—he was appointed Bishop of Teruel and Albarracín on July 20, 2010, receiving episcopal ordination on September 26 of that same year. On May 13, 2016, he was appointed Bishop of the Diocese of Calahorra y La Calzada-Logroño, taking canonical possession of the see on June 25, 2016. On October 6, 2020, he was appointed Archbishop of Zaragoza by Pope Francis. He took possession of the Archdiocese of Zaragoza on November 21, 2020.
