Archbishop of Merauke
Archbishop Petrus Canisius Mandagi, M.S.C., Archbishop of Merauke, was born on April 27, 1949, in Dutch East Indies, Indonesia. He is a member of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart and Saint Mary of Guadalupe. He was ordained a priest for the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart of Jesus on December 18, 1975. On June 10, 1994, he was appointed Bishop of Amboina. He received episcopal ordination on September 18, 1994, at Amboina, with Andreas Peter Cornelius Sol as principal consecrator and Josephus Tethool and Johannes Liku Ada' as co-consecrators. On August 7, 2019, he was appointed Apostolic Administrator of Merauke. On November 11, 2020, he was appointed Archbishop of Merauke. He was installed as Archbishop of Merauke on January 3, 2021.
