Christmas Giving

Social Justice & Outreach

Parish provides Christmas gifts for underprivileged children and families in and around Newark through St. Michael's parish. Trees in the church lobby with tags for a child or a family. Also opportunities to provide a meal for a family ($75 minimum) or make a donation to the food pantry at St. Michael's ($10 minimum).

Food Pantry Collection

Social Justice & Outreach

On the first weekend of each month, parishioners donate bags of food to stock the food pantry at St. Michael's Parish in Newark. Food is delivered to St. Michael's for distribution after the noon Mass on Sunday.

Music Ministry

Sacred music at St. Gabriel's spans centuries of Christian tradition from Gregorian chant to the most respected contemporary composers. Includes adult choir, KidsChoir, cantors, and organ. Goal is to promote music which uplifts and encourages an environment of prayer and sacred devotion.

Classroom model religious education program for grades 1-8. Classes for grades 1-5 held Monday-Thursday from 3:30-4:45 PM. Classes for grades 6-8 held Tuesday evenings 5:45-7:15 PM or 7:30-9:00 PM.

Walk-In Dinner Program

Parish participates in the Walk-In Dinner program of the Inter-religious Fellowship for the Homeless. Parishioners volunteer to prepare dinner, drive to Hackensack to deliver the meal and serve. Occurs about eight times a year. Sign-up sessions held after Mass.

Youth Ministry

Youth & Young Adult

Youth Ministry for grades 9-12. Meets weekly on Sundays from 7-8pm in the meeting room beneath the rectory. Activities include socialization, food, games, Bible study, video, or faith-based discussion. Also plans guest speakers, volunteer opportunities, and leadership team.
