Bishop of Puerto Iguazú
Bishop Nicolás Baisi, Bishop of Puerto Iguazú, was born on July 15, 1964, in Bella Vista, in the Diocese of San Miguel. After studying at the Don Jaime College of Bella Vista, he studied engineering for two years at the National University of Buenos Aires, and then entered the diocesan seminary of San Miguel. Having completed his theological studies at the University of the Salvador in San Miguel, he was ordained a priest for San Miguel on November 21, 1993. In 2001 he obtained a licentiate in theology from the Pontifical University Angelicum in Rome. Before going to Rome he was parochial vicar in the parish of the Immaculate Heart of Mary at Los Polvorines. He subsequently served as vice-director of Caritas, parish priest of Nuestra Señora del Rosario, and diocesan director of catechesis and of the presbyteral council. In 2007 he was appointed rector of the major seminary of San Miguel. On April 8, 2010, he was appointed Titular Bishop of Tepelta and Auxiliary Bishop of La Plata. He received episcopal ordination on June 19, 2010, at La Plata, with Héctor Rubén Aguer as principal consecrator and Sergio Alfredo Fenoy and Antonio Marino as co-consecrators. On May 8, 2020, he was appointed Bishop of Puerto Iguazú, and he was installed on July 5, 2020.
