Bishop of Saint Petersburg
Gregory Lawrence Parkes was born on April 2, 1964, in Mineola, New York, in the Diocese of Rockville Centre. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Finance from Florida State University in Tallahassee and worked in the banking sector as an Assistant Vice President (1986–1993). He attended Saint Vincent de Paul Regional Seminary in Boynton Beach (1993–1995), where he obtained a bachelor's degree in Philosophy; subsequently, as a seminarian at the Pontifical North American College, he earned a bachelor's degree in Theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University (1995–1998). He obtained a Licentiate in Canon Law from the same university (1998–2000). Ordained a priest on June 26, 1999, for the Diocese of Orlando, he served in the following roles: Parochial Vicar at Holy Family Parish in Orlando (1999–2005) and Secretary General of the first Diocesan Synod of Orlando (2005–2007). He currently serves as Vicar General (since 2009), Chancellor for Canonical Affairs (since 2005), and Pastor of Corpus Christi Parish in Celebration (since 2005).
