Bishop of Pavia
Corrado Sanguineti was born in Milan on November 7, 1964. In 1983, he entered the Episcopal Seminary and attended courses at the Theological Faculty of Northern Italy (Genoa section), where he obtained a Baccalaureate in Theology. He was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Chiavari on October 30, 1988. As a priest, he attended the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome, earning a Licentiate in Biblical Sciences, and obtained a degree in Theology from the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross, while residing at the Collegio Lombardo in Rome. He held the following positions: Assistant Pastor at the Parish of San Giuseppe in Piani di Ri (northern outskirts of Chiavari) from 1989 to 1992; Pastor of San Lorenzo di Levaggi from 1988 to 1992; President of the Diocesan Council for Youth Ministry from 1999 to 2004; member of the Diocesan Vocations Center from 1999 to 2004; and member of the Diocesan Pastoral Council from 2000 to 2010. Since 2013, he has served as Pastor of the parishes of San Colombano in Vignale and San Martino del Monte in San Colombano Certenoli, as well as Provost of the Cathedral of Nostra Signora dell’Orto. Since 2005, he has been the Director and a lecturer at the “Mater Ecclesiae” Institute of Religious Sciences in Chiavari, Pro-Vicar General, and a member of the Diocesan Presbyteral Council, the College of Consultors, and the Diocesan Pastoral Council. He has been a Chaplain of His Holiness since 2011. Furthermore, he is a lecturer in Sacred Scripture at the Theological Faculty of Northern Italy (Genoa section), the diocesan delegate for clergy formation, President of the Council for Culture, the diocesan contact person for the Italian Episcopal Conference’s (CEI) “Cultural Project,” and Prefect of Studies at the diocesan seminary.
