Adult Faith Formation

Formatio fidei

Guided by the Spirit of prayer, provides educational and spiritual enrichment opportunities to adults of St. Boniface and St. Mary Parishes; offerings include instructions and opportunities to grow in relationship with Christ through the Catholic faith.

Adult Faith Formation Commission

Formatio fidei

Meets to discuss, pray, and plan activities inviting ongoing conversion to Jesus; promotes active parish membership; prepares adults to act as disciples in mission. Activities include parish Missions, Advent/Lenten programs, RCIA, and Bible Study groups. Membership by auspice of the pastor. Meetings: monthly.

Altar Servers

Liturgical

Altar servers assist at any Mass of the parish's choosing. Youth and adults welcome. To become an altar server, contact Mr. Don Stonerock for training and scheduling.

Altar Society

Liturgical

Altar Society of St. Mary Parish; open to women age 18+. Cares for Altar linens and Holy Water fonts. Provides Masses for deceased members, delivers flowers/cards to members in nursing homes, desserts and help at fish frys and festivals, and occasional coffee and donuts after Sunday 9:00 AM Mass.

Communication Commission

Other

Responsible for fostering communications within St. Mary Parish between priest and people, parish societies, and community/media groups. Meetings: as needed.

Elementary and Teen Faith Formation (ETFF)

Youth & Young Adult

Faith formation for grades K-8: Grades K-6 on Wednesday evenings; Grades 7-8 on Sunday mornings. High school on Second and Fourth Sundays. For children of St. Boniface and St. Mary parishes.

Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist

Liturgical

Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist assist at Mass. Youth and adults welcome. To volunteer, contact Mr. Don Stonerock for training and scheduling.

Family Life Commission

Family & Marriage

Promotes community spirit by organizing parish activities including weekly Lenten fish fry, Thanksgiving baskets, St. Nick stockings, Family Breakfast, Senior Breakfast, Coffee and Donuts, Easter gifts, Confirmation gifts, flowers to ill/widowed members, and funeral luncheons. Meets: several times per year.

Knights of Columbus

Fraternal & Service

Any Catholic man actively practicing the faith is eligible. Meetings held monthly. Sponsors social and philanthropic events. Clubroom open to members and guests. (Labeled 'non-Parish organization' on parish website)

Knights of Columbus Auxiliary

Fraternal & Service

Maintenance Commission

Parish Governance & Administration

Recommends upkeep of parish property to pastor and maintenance staff. Volunteer members with specific knowledge in maintenance and property upkeep. Also volunteers to complete smaller projects. Meetings: first Tuesday of every month.

Miami County Right to Life

Pro-Life

Dedicated to presenting factual information on fetal development, abortion, euthanasia, and infanticide. All-volunteer; open to anyone. Meetings held monthly. (Labeled 'non-Parish organization' on parish website)

Other

Keeps parish awareness of the ongoing missionary activity of the Church and supports those efforts. Sponsors missionaries; two or three fundraising activities per year. Membership: St. Mary and St. Boniface parishioners.

Music Ministry

Serves St. Boniface and St. Mary parishes. Groups include: Saturday Singers (3:30 PM Mass at St. Boniface, practice Saturdays 2:30–3:00 PM); Sunday Morning Choir (11:00 AM Mass at St. Boniface, practice Wednesdays 5:00 PM); St. Mary Saturday Evening Mass (5:00 PM); St. Mary Sunday Morning Choir (9:15 AM, practice Wednesdays 7:00–8:00 PM); Combined Children's Choir Grades 2-8 (Wednesdays 3:15–4:00 PM at St. Mary); Kindergarten & 1st Grade (Mondays 3:00–3:30 PM at Caserta Center); Combined Handbell Choir (Mondays 6:00–7:00 PM); Combined Handchime Choir (Wednesdays 3:15–4:00 PM at St. Mary). Parish Finance Council

Comprised of members with expertise in financial matters. Primary responsibility: obtain funding for parish projects and conserve existing resources. Develops tools for priorities and programs set by the Pastoral Council. Membership under auspices of the pastor. Meetings: quarterly; additional meetings with Pastoral Council as needed.

Sponsors missionary activities; sponsors missionaries and holds fundraising activities two or three times per year.

Serves as practical vehicle for parishioner gifts and authority. Sets priorities and programs of service and education. Membership: ex-officio non-voting members, six elected voting members, and voting commission representatives. Meetings: first Thursday of the month except June, July, August, and January.

Perpetual Adoration

Prayer & Devotional

Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration in Saint Clare Chapel, located beneath St. Boniface Church. 24 hours a day, 7 days a week since 1990. Visitors always welcome for silent adoration. Parishioners of St. Boniface, St. Mary, St. Patrick (Troy), St. Teresa (Covington), Holy Angels (Sidney), and other surrounding parishes participate. Adorers needed for specific hours.

St. Vincent de Paul Society

Fraternal & Service

Formed 1984 to help members of St. Mary Parish and other Piqua residents. Requests come from parish members and social agencies. Provides monetary assistance through Bethany Center and Salvation Army for rent, utilities, medical needs, and prescriptions.

Worship Commission

Liturgical

Creates and promotes atmosphere enhancing parish prayer life. Aids in developing liturgical life in the areas of music, readers, extraordinary ministers, ushers, offertory processions, environmental art, and special occasions. Meetings: as needed.
