Bishop Dominique Marie Jean Denis You

Dominique Marie Jean Denis You was born on July 3, 1955, in Gassin, France, where he completed his schooling—earning his baccalaureate in 1973—and was very active in the *Scouts d’Europe* movement. He entered the propaedeutic seminary in Paray-le-Monial, in the Diocese of Autun, in September 1973. From 1974 to 1976, he pursued philosophy studies in Italy: the first year at the diocesan seminary in Cortona and the second at the regional seminary in Chieti. Subsequently, he studied theology at the Pontifical University "Angelicum." He was ordained a deacon on August 24, 1980, and a priest on July 23, 1981. He specialized in Thomistic theology at the Pontifical University "Angelicum," obtaining a Licentiate degree in 1982. He then held the following positions: parochial vicar at the Parish of Saint-Sernin in Brive (1982–1984) and head of the school chaplaincy for public middle and high schools in Brive (1984–1992), in the Diocese of Tulle. In October 1992, he was sent to Brazil as a *fidei donum* priest to the Archdiocese of São Salvador da Bahia; there, he was appointed coordinator of the "Pontos-Coração" movement (1992–1994) and later served as spiritual director at the "Central da Bahia" seminary (1995–1997). Currently, he is the parish priest of "Nossa Senhora dos Alagados" (since 1994), a vicar forane of the Archdiocese of São Salvador da Bahia (since 2000), and spiritual director at the "Santa Terezinha" propaedeutic seminary (since 2000).
