Bishop of Masvingo; Apostolic Administrator of Chinhoyi
Raymond Tapiwa Mupa, C.Ss.R., was born in Tamirepi—now part of the Diocese of Masvingo—on April 28, 1970. In 1990, he entered the Chishawasha Major Seminary (Harare), where he completed his philosophical studies. In 1996, he joined the Redemptorist religious family. He made his perpetual vows in 2001 and was ordained a priest on August 4 of that same year in Hatcliffe (Harare). Following his ordination, he held the following positions: 2001–2005: Parochial Vicar in Mabvuku and Tafara (Harare); he obtained a Master of Philosophy degree in Theology (specializing in Canon Law) from St. Augustine’s College of South Africa (2001–2004); 2005–2007: Parish Priest of St. Gerard’s in Borrowdale (Harare); 2007–2010: Specialized studies in Rome, obtaining a Licentiate in Moral Theology from the Pontifical Alphonsian Academy; 2010–2014: Parish Priest of St. Fidelis in Mabvuku and St. Alphonsus in Tafara; 2010–2014: Professor of Moral Theology at the Chishawasha Seminary (Harare); 2010–2015: Lecturer in Moral Theology at Holy Trinity College (Harare); 2012–2014: Lecturer in Canon Law at Holy Trinity College; 2014–2015: Vice-Rector of Holy Trinity College; since 2015: Regional Superior of the Redemptorist Fathers in Harare.
