A great way to share your musical talents with your parish family. This group is comprised of volunteer members who give of their time and talents to glorify God through the ministry of music.

Altar Servers

Liturgical

Altar Servers prepare the altar for Mass and assist the Priest during the Mass. Their ministry includes being an example to the rest of the community through their faithful attention and participation during the liturgy.

This ensemble is comprised of volunteers who wish to share their time and talent for the enjoyment of our parish community. The bell choir usually performs at special events or Holy Days.

Each year, new and gently used blankets, afghans, pillows and throws are collected and distributed to the House of Concern and Community Action Program. Each year, over 100 items are collected.

Cleaning at the Ministry Center

For the last few years, we have helped clean the rooms and hallways at the Ministry Center to get ready for Religious Education.

Coat Drive

Other

Each Fall, we collect new coats for distribution to the needy throughout the county. Coats are distributed in October. There is a continual need, so Ellen Hughes gives them out when requested.

Community Christmas Project

Other

Each year, in conjunction with the Community Christmas Project, we make tags and envelopes, hang tags on the Christmas trees at both churches, and collect gifts for the area needy families. Several of us also help with sorting and getting the gifts ready for families to pick up.

Delivering Food for the House of Concern

Several members volunteer to deliver food from the House of Concern to families that don't have transportation to pick up the food.

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion

Liturgical

Extraordinary Ministers assist the celebrant with the distribution of the Eucharist during Mass and take Communion to the sick, homebound, or those in hospitals and nursing homes.

During Celebrate/Commemorate, we participate in the Rotary project by collecting canned goods, creating a structure with the cans, and then donating the cans to a local food pantry.

Folk Group

Other

Originated at St. Mary's in 1975. The style of music was considered contemporary in the sense that it reflected a simple style and lyrics with the use of guitars, wind instruments, and occasional percussion instruments. The group's mission is to enhance the celebration of the Eucharist by providing the Congregation with music that encourages their participation through singing.

Each month, food and hygiene products are collected according to a pre-determined calendar. In conjunction with Mosaic clients, the donations are delivered to the House of Concern and the Community Action Program.

Each year, committee members hold Good Friday prayer services for the residents of both local nursing homes.

Greeters

Hospitality

Greeters welcome people as they arrive at Mass and coordinate the procession of gifts to the Altar. The greeters also distribute the Church Bulletin after Mass.

Homebound

Health & Wellness

There are several parishioners who take Holy Communion to the homebound weekly or as desired. The parish maintains a database of the homebound parishioners and their assigned visitors.

Hospital/Nursing Home Visitations

Health & Wellness

Visitations occur weekly and when a call is made to one of the priests through the Parish Office. We appreciate a call when someone in your family requires hospitalization so that we can bring them the sacraments.

Hunger Collection

Each month, we are responsible for recruiting volunteers to hold baskets at each Mass to collect money donated to the House of Concern and the Community Action Program. Once a year, we give 1/3 of the collection to the Tyre Food Pantry.

Lent - Operation Rice Bowl

Each year, we provide information about various projects funded by the Catholic Relief Services and ideas for Lenten activities. We provide rice bowl and envelopes for parishioners to contribute to the Catholic Relief Services.

Liturgy Committee

This committee is engaged in the study of liturgy by observation, consultation with liturgy documents, and related articles. The committee assists in the development of special liturgies and is involved with issues of art and environment during the various liturgical seasons and liturgical events.

Migrant Project

Each year, we collect various items to be delivered to the migrant workers in King Ferry. Some years we help to distribute items and provide breakfast. This past summer, we collected ball caps, work socks, and snacks.

Each month, a rotating group of volunteers does a communion service at each nursing home.

Neighbors' Night Out

Each March and October, we plan, shop, cook and serve dinner at Trinity Episcopal Church free of charge to anyone who wants to come. Dinners are served in person.

Nicaragua Project

Each summer we host a dinner for Ann Marie Zon when she comes to speak about Nicaragua. In December, we have a tree with ornaments for people who donate to Nicaragua.

Hospitality

The most important job of an usher is to assist people with seating and make them feel welcome as they arrive to worship at St. Mary's and St. Patrick's churches. In addition, the ushers assist with the collection basket during the offering.

Valentine Project

Each year, in conjunction with the Religious Education students, we make and deliver valentines to all of the residents in both local nursing homes, the local police stations and fire stations.
