Bishop of Adria-Rovigo
Pierantonio Pavanello was born in Bassano del Grappa (Vicenza) on May 20, 1955. After completing his classical high school studies, he attended the Faculty of Law in Padua for two years. He was admitted to the Diocesan Seminary of Vicenza and obtained a Baccalaureate in Theology in 1982. He continued his studies in Rome, where he earned a Doctorate in Canon Law from the Pontifical Gregorian University in 1993. He was ordained a priest on May 16, 1982, and incardinated into the Diocese of Vicenza. Following his ordination, he held the following positions: Parochial Vicar of San Clemente in Valdagno (Vicenza) from 1982 to 1989; Secretary of the Presbyteral Council and the Diocesan Pastoral Council from 1994 to 2005; and Adjunct Judicial Vicar of the Regional Ecclesiastical Tribunal of Triveneto from 2001 to the present. He has served as Episcopal Chancellor since 2004; as a lecturer at the S. Antonio Dottore Institute in Padua from 1996 to 2001; as a lecturer in Canon Law at the Theological Institute of the Diocesan Seminary of Vicenza from 1993 to the present; and as a professor at the “S. Pio X” Institute of Canon Law in Venice since 2004. Since 2005, he has been the Director of the Clergy House in Vicenza. On October 27, 2005, he was named a Chaplain of His Holiness.
