Bishop of Alto Solimões
Adolfo Zon Pereira, S.X., was born on January 23, 1956, in Orense, Spain. He made his religious vows on October 2, 1982, in the Pious Society of Saint Francis Xavier for Foreign Missions (Xaverian Missionaries) and was ordained a priest on June 21, 1986. He pursued philosophy studies at the Seminary of Orense (1974–1977) and theology studies in Orense and Madrid (1977–1983). Additionally, he obtained a Licentiate degree in Catechetics and in Social Doctrine in Spain. He has been working as a missionary in Brazil since 1993. During his priestly ministry, he has held the following positions: animator for missionary, vocational, and youth activities in Pamplona (1985–1992); local bursar in Pamplona (1989–1992); parish priest in the Diocese of Abaetetuba, Brazil (1994); Regional Vice-Superior of the Xaverians in Brazil (2005–2007; 2008–2011); Regional Bursar of the Xaverians; parish priest of Santa Rosa de Lima Parish in Abaetetuba; and professor of the Social Doctrine of the Church at the IRFP (Regional Institute for Presbyteral Formation) in Belém do Pará.
