Archbishop of Maria Santissima in Astana
Tomasz Bernard Peta was born on August 20, 1951, in Inowrocław, Poland. He was ordained a priest on June 5, 1976. He began his ministry in Kazakhstan on August 21, 1990, serving as the pastor of the "Mary, Queen of Peace" parish in the village of Ozernoye, Tayynsha District, North Kazakhstan Region. On August 6, 1999, Pope John Paul II appointed him Apostolic Administrator of Astana. He was ordained a bishop on March 19, 2001. On May 17, 2003, the Pope elevated the Apostolic Administration of Astana to the rank of an archdiocese, named the "Archdiocese of Saint Mary in Astana." At that time, Tomasz Peta was appointed Archbishop and Metropolitan of the Archdiocese of Saint Mary in Astana.
