Bishop of Lins
João Gilberto de Moura was born in Ituiutaba—then part of the Archdiocese of Uberaba (now the Diocese of Ituiutaba)—on November 21, 1963. He pursued philosophy studies at the "Maria Imaculada" Major Seminary in Araxá, Diocese of Patos (1990–1991), and theology studies at the "Maria Imaculada" Major Seminary in Brodowsky, Archdiocese of Ribeirão Preto (1992–1995). He was ordained a priest on December 10, 1995. On June 3, 2008, he was named a Prelate of Honour of His Holiness. During his priestly ministry, he has held the following positions: Parochial Vicar of "São José" Cathedral (1996); Rector of the "Santo Cura d’Ars" Diocesan Minor Seminary (1996); Ecclesiastical Assistant to the "Serra" Movement (1996–1999); Diocesan Coordinator for Vocations Ministry (1996–1997); Representative of the Presbyterate (1997–2003); Pastor of "Cristo Rei" Parish in Centralina (1997–2002); Diocesan Coordinator for Children's Pastoral Care (1999–2002) and Regional Coordinator for Children's Pastoral Care – "Ituiutaba" Sector (2004–2007); Judicial Vicar of the Ecclesiastical Tribunal (2000–2002); Diocesan Chancellor (2002–2006); Pastor of "São Francisco de Assis" Parish in Ituiutaba (2002–2008); Vicar General (2006–2007); and Diocesan Administrator (2007). He is currently the Pastor of "Cristo Rei" Cathedral, Judicial Vicar of the Ecclesiastical Tribunal of Ituiutaba, and Procurator, Bursar, and Vicar General of the Diocese of Ituiutaba. Furthermore, he is a member of the Presbyteral Council and the College of Consultors, and Ecclesiastical Assistant to the Secular Institute "Maria, Mãe da Igreja".
