CCC 303
The Catholic Church teaches that God's providence extends to all things, both great and small. According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC 303), the witness of Scripture is unanimous in affirming God's absolute sovereignty over the course of events in the world and in history. The sacred books powerfully declare that "Our God is in the heavens; he does whatever he pleases."
This means that God's care and guidance extends to all aspects of creation, from the least things to the greatest events. As the book of Proverbs states, "Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the LORD that will be established." Jesus Christ himself affirms this truth, declaring that he "opens and no one shall shut, who shuts and no one opens."
In short, the Catholic Church teaches that God's providence is concrete and immediate, and that he exercises sovereign control over all things according to his perfect will and purpose. Nothing escapes his watchful care and governance.
