Diocese of Carpi

Archbishop Erio Castellucci, Archbishop of Modena-Nonantola, Italy, was born in Forli on 8 July 1960. He obtained a magistral diploma and completed his institutional studies for the priesthood at the Pontifical Regional Seminary Flaminio Benedetto XV in Bologna, receiving a bachelor's degree in theology in 1983. As a student at the Pontifical Lombard Seminary of Santi Ambrogio e Carlo in Urbe in Rome, he received a doctorate in theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University in 1988, with a thesis on the christological and ecclesiological dimension of the priest in the Second Vatican Council. He was ordained a priest on 5 May 1984 for the diocese of Forli-Bertinoro, where he was incardinated and resided. From 1984 to 1986 he served as pastoral collaborator at the parish of San Gregorio Magno alla Magliana in Rome, and from 1984 to 1992 as parish priest of San Tommaso Apostolo in Durazzanino. From 1995 he was diocesan head of youth ministry, and in 1988 he was appointed vice-rector of the minor seminary. From 2005 to 2009 he was dean of the Theological Faculty of Emilia-Romagna, from 2009 to 2012 a member of the diocesan presbyteral and pastoral council, from 1993 diocesan assistant to the AGESCI Scouts, and from 2009 episcopal vicar for culture, universities and schools, family, youth, vocations and tourism. He also served in Forli as parish priest of San Giovanni Apostolo ed Evangelista, spiritual father in the episcopal seminary, and lecturer at the Sant'Apollinare Higher Institute of Religious Sciences. He is the author of publications and articles dealing with the spirituality of the diocesan priest. On 3 June 2015 he was appointed metropolitan archbishop of Modena-Nonantola, and he received episcopal consecration the following 12 September. He is a consultor of the Congregation for the Clergy. Within the Italian Episcopal Conference, he is president of the Commission for the Doctrine of the Faith, Proclamation and Catechesis. On 26 June 2019 he was appointed apostolic administrator of Carpi.
