Bishop of Nanchang
Bishop John Baptist Li Suguang, Bishop of Nanchang, was born in 1964 into a Catholic family at Changzi, in Shanxi. In 1987 he entered the diocesan seminary of his home diocese and afterwards that of Beijing, and he was ordained a priest on August 22, 1992. After his ordination he worked for three years at Shuozhou, then in Inner Mongolia, and finally in the ecclesiastical circumscription of Nanchang, first as parish priest of two large parishes and from 1999 as vicar general. He was ordained Coadjutor Bishop of Nanchang on October 31, 2010, in the cathedral of the Immaculate Conception at Nanchang, having been approved for that office by the Holy See, with Joseph Li Shan as principal consecrator and Joseph Shen Bin and Joseph Zhao Fengchang as co-consecrators. He succeeded as Bishop of Nanchang on August 25, 2014.
